Winn-Dixie donates $350,000 to American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Grocer continues 15-year partnership to provide hope to local patients, survivors and their families
Winn-Dixie is proud to announce the donation of $350,000 to the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® campaign, thanks to generous contributions from customers in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Northwest and Central Florida and Columbus, Georgia. Throughout the month of October, Winn-Dixie shoppers were encouraged to donate $1, $5 or simply round up their grocery bill during the grocer’s in-store community donation program to support neighbors impacted by breast cancer.
Winn-Dixie’s donation will support the organization’s mission to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer. Over the course of the 15-year partnership, Winn-Dixie has donated more than $1.7 million to the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® campaign to support the organization’s vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
American Cancer Society research indicates breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer among women in the U.S. after skin cancer, with an estimated 297,790 new invasive breast cancer diagnoses this year alone. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement works to raise funds and awareness of the disease while providing support for patients and their families.
Winn-Dixie remains steadfast in its commitment to support organizations working to make neighbors across the Southeast healthier and stronger. The grocer is deeply rooted in the communities it serves and is passionate about caring for the health and well-being of its neighbors.
